The corrupt political power environment has been going on in Benton County for a
very long time. The people have tolerated public officials using their offices
for personal gain. If you were in the "good 'ol boy" clique, you could get by
with almost anything.
We have all been apathetic, and the consequences are upon
us, but now we have had enough and I believe the people are determined to make
those officials pay by voting them out of office or putting them in jail before
the next elections. However, the corrupt officials will not go easy, so we must
be determined and relentless in pursuing our goals of good, honest government.
We
must fill the courthouse and halls each time there is a commission meeting. We
must ask all law-abiding citizens to participate! We must find good candidates
and help them in any way possible to assure that they are elected! Yes, and that
means helping finance their campaigns, going door to door, making telephone calls
and many other ways to bring about the needed results.
Further, we must support
those candidates that have the necessary talents to do the job effectively. This
may mean you do not vote for someone just because they are your friend.
This next
election could mean life or death to people in Benton County. Run-a-Way taxation
is really hurting good people in Benton County! Hurting people are having to make
choices about whether to pay taxes or buy necessary essentials for living. This
is evil and very wrong.
I am calling on each one of you to make a concerted effort to do what is right in these upcoming elections. Talk to your neighbor! Hold community meetings to discuss your candidates for commissioners and county-wide offices.
What you do will impact many future generations. You the people have the power to change things for
the better in Benton County. It is a God-Given right and a right granted under our
Great Constitution.
Stand up for your family! Stand up for Benton County and stand up for Tennessee and
these Great United States of America. God bless America! (James L. Peach, Sr.)
